Suspended Driver Arrested In Valentine's Day Nutley Hit-Run That Killed Paterson Man: Cops
An arrest has been made in a deadly hit-and-run crash that killed a 22-year-old Paterson man and injured another person. Dhkir Robinson, 42, is believed to have been behind the wheel of the vehicle that struck Winston Perlaza and a second victim Wednesday evening, Feb. 14 on Milton Avenue in Nutley, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II and Nutley Police Chief Thomas Strumolo said. Perlaza was taken to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center and pronounced dead soon after, Stephens and Strumolo said. A second pedestrian was also taken to a local hospital for non-fatal injuries…

A 22-year-old Paterson resident was killed after being struck by a vehicle in Nutley on the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 14, authorities said. Bernard Jones, a 70-year-old East Orange man was fatally struck by a vehicle in Irvington on Saturday, Oct. 28, authorities said. At 10:07 p.m., police responded to Clinton Avenue and Linden Avenue after being alerted to the crash, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Irvington Police Director Tracy Bowers said. Jones was transported to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center where he was soon pronounced dead, Stephens and Bowers said. A phlebotomist is suing the City of Newark and Newark Police, alleging they wrongfully arrested her and filmed her changing on their body cameras after she was stabbed in the face by a patient. The lawsuit was filed in March in New Jersey Superior Court, Essex County. HAZMAT: Tainted Substance Sickens Newark Bank Workers
A possible HazMat situation was reported at a Newark bank Tuesday, May 2 when a man handed the teller tainted cash, authorities said. The Wells Fargo Bank on Lyons Avenue was evacuated around 12:10 p.m., when the teller and other employees said they had been feeling sick. Three employees were taken to Newark Beth Israel Medical Center as firefighters and police investigated. It was not immediately clear what the cash had been tainted with. The bank was listed as being temporarily closed on Google Tuesday evening.

Newark Beth Israel Medical Center's main lobby has gotten a facelift. The hospital is planning a $150 million facelift that includes a new recently completed 17,000 square-foot glass enclosed main lobby with modern seating areas, community meeting spaces and cafés. One person was killed and two others hurt in a Newark shooting overnight, authorities said. Abdul Crowley, 23, was found with gunshot wounds on the 100 block of Mitchell Place around 12:50 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 30, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. A mass shooting threat made called into Newark Beth Israel Medical Center Thursday afternoon that were deemed unfounded, authorities said.
