Newark Police Looking For Driver That Struck Pedestrian, Fled Scene (Photo) A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene on Thursday, Nov. 2, Newark police said. At 8:10 a.m., police responded to Muhammad Ali Avenue and Livingston Street where a person was hit by a maroon 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan while crossing the street with family members, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz G. Fragé said.  The vehicle had New Jersey registration Z59LLR, Fragé said. After striking the victim, the vehicle continued driving toward Irvine Turner Boulevard, Fragé said. Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call 1-877-695-8477.

Shooting Places Newark School On Lockdown A report of shots fired placed a Newark school on lockdown Friday, Nov. 4, authorities said. The call came in just before 3 p.m., near the Louise A. Spencer Elementary school on the 100 block of Muhammad Ali Avenue, Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. No victims were located and no injuries have been reported. The incident remains under investigation.

Driver Who Killed 2 In Stolen Car Captured In Newark (Video): Police A Newark driver who killed two people when he struck their vehicle in a stolen car has been arrested, and police have released the footage of his capture, they said (scroll down for video). Sharrod Rogers, 20, was behind the wheel of a 2021 Dodge Charger stolen out of Union struck an Acura, killing a man and woman, around 4:30 a.m. March 31, Newark Public Safety Director Brian O'Hara said. Three teenage girls, who were passengers in the stolen vehicle, were also injured in the crash. Rogers and another passenger fled the scene on foot after the Dodge Charger burst into flames, O'Hara said.…
