Valentine's Day Crash Leaves 1 Dead In Nutley UPDATE: The victim has been ID'ed as 22-year-old Wiston Perlaza. One person was killed in a motor vehicle crash in Nutley on the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 14, police said. The hit-and-run motor vehicle crash occurred at 7 p.m. at Milton Avenue at the Garden State Parkway overpass, Nutley police said.  Nutley police and the Essex County Prosecutors Office are working to identify the perpetrator, officers said. The victim has not been identified. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at  Nutley police at 973-284-4940.

Fiery Accident Shuts Rt. 7 In Kearny A section of Rt. 7 in Kearny was closed Wednesday morning because of a downed utility pole caused by a motor-vehicle crash hours earlier.  The lanes were closed in both directions between Schuyler Avenue and Ridge Road, according to the DOT.  A witness who saw the accident early this morning and other witnesses quoted in a published report said a woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
