Man Fatally Shot In Newark: Authorities A 37-year-old Newark man was shot and killed early Friday morning, May 19, authorities said. At 2:35 a.m., police responded to a report of a shooting on the 100 block of Lindsley Avenue, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Soon after, they received a report on the 200 block of Sunset Avenue and located Wesley Murphy in a car suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Stephens and Fragé said. Man Wanted For Questioning In Newark Shooting Police in Newark are seeking the public's help in locating an Irvington man who is wanted for questioning in a shooting last month. Haywood Covington, 29, has been wanted by police since Thursday, March 31. He owns a 2020 blue Ford Fusion, which was found with a bullet hole at the scene of a shooting on the 100 block of Sunset Avenue around 10 a.m., Newark Public Safety Director Brian A.
