Man Fatally Shot In Newark: Prosecutors
A 49-year-old Irvington man was shot and killed in Newark on Wednesday, Aug. 30, authorities said. At 9:17 p.m., police responded to a shooting on the 100 block of Goodwin Avenue and found Andre Shoulars outside suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Stephens, II and Newark Public Safety Director Fritz Fragé said. Shoulars was taken to a nearby hospital where he was soon pronounced dead, Stephens and Fragé said. A 19-year-old reputed Newark street gang member wanted for shooting three rivals with a modified machine gun last weekend is in federal custody. Munir “Mu” Muhammad was carrying the converted 9mm handgun when he was arrested on Wednesday, April 12, U.S. Attorney Philip Sellinger said. A 17-year-old girl was shot and killed in Newark Wednesday, June 8, authorities said. Nyasia Peppers, of Newark, had already died at Beth Israel Hospital when officers arrived at the crime scene on the 100 block of Goodwin Avenue around 11:15 p.m., Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Sanitation Worker Critical In Newark Hit-Run Crash
A sanitation worker was hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday evening in Newark. The man was collecting trash for an independent company when he was struck by a white Lincoln near the intersection of Hawthorne and Goodwin avenues around 11:30 p.m., Newark Public Safety Director Anthony Ambrose said. The driver fled the scene and the victim was taken to University Hospital. Authorities were searching for the driver as of Thursday morning.

A teen girl was hit at least seven times by a shooter who opened fire from a car Wednesday night in Newark, authorities said. The shooting occurred around 8 p.m. on Goodwin Avenue.
