Two Men Stole Checks From Mailboxes: Fairfield PD
Two men were arrested and charged with stealing checks from people's mailboxes in Fairfield on Thursday, April 4, police said. At 9:22 a.m. a resident on Glenroy Road South witnessed a vehicle pull up to their mailbox and remove an envelope containing a check meant to be picked up by the mailman, Fairfield police said. The vehicle then drove up to a second mailbox and stole their mail, police said. Police located the vehicle on Sand Road near Hollywood Avenue, officers said. A 19-year-old DUI driver from New Jersey was 10 times over the legal limit and driving at 85 mph when he crashed into an Uber carrying four of his peers from Sacred Heart University in Connecticut last month, officials said. Fire Destroys Essex County Home
A home in Fairfield was gutted following a fire on Saturday afternoon, May 20, authorities said. Police and firefighters were called to Glenroy Road South at 1:04 p.m. and discovered a working fire, Fairfield Police Chief Anthony Manna said. A pilot and his two passengers escaped uninjured when the plane they were flying in ran off a runway and crashed at the Essex County Airport on Easter Sunday, authorities said. The 2020 Citation CJ3 Plus was found at the end of Runway 22 in a drainage brook around 2:40 p.m., Fairfield police said.
