Newark Firefighter Rafael Padilla Dies, 44 Rafael Padilla, a longtime Newark firefighter, died on Tuesday, Dec. 5.  A lifelong Newark resident, Padilla served as a sergeant in the US Army National Guard for 25 years and joined the Newark Fire Department in April 2007, being stationed at Truck 8 and Engine 27, according to his obituary.  HFD local #35 gives our condolences to the Newark Fire Department and to the friends and family of firefighter Rafael... Memorial For Councilman Shot Dead At PSE&G Will Help Daughter Through College In PA A former PSE&G employee shot and killed his supervisor outside the utility company's Somerset County facility on Wednesday, Feb. 8,  authorities say.  But this "one-of-a-kind" man's legacy will live on through his daughter, according to his family. Russell "Russ" D. Heller, 51-year-old councilman in Milford, NJ, was gunned down by 58-year-old Gary T. Curtis on Weston Canal Road in Franklin Township shortly after 7 a.m. Feb. 8, Somerset County Prosecutor John P. McDonald said. Mom Recounts Terrifying Fairfield Coyote Attack A 37-year-old mother who was attacked by a coyote while with her toddler son and 18-month-old daughter in a Fairfield park described the harrowing experience during a press conference Friday.
