DWI Newark Driver Gets Decade For Hit-Run Death Of 19-Year-Old A DWI Newark driver was sentenced to a decade in prison for a hit-and-run crash that left a 19-year-old man dead. Gustavo Palomo, 39, had been drinking when he struck the back of a vehicle driven by Jaleel McCauley, who was stopped at a red light on the exit ramp of Route 280 and First Street last March 17,  Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N.
