Authorities in Newark are seeking the public's help identifying a man they say stole personal items from a pickup truck after throwing a brick through the window.

A man was seen on video surveillance footage holding a brick while walking through the parking lot at 2013 McCarter Highway on Tuesday, May 26 around 2 a.m., Newark Department of Public Safety Director Anthony F. Ambrose said in a release.

The man threw the brick through the passenger’s side window of a white 2016 Chevy pickup truck and stole a portable battery charger and other personal items before fleeing southbound on McCarter Highway, authorities said.

The suspect, pictured above, is described as a black, bald-headed male with black pants, a black t-shirt, a black baseball hat and black and white sneakers, authorities said.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the suspect is urged to call the 24-hour Crime Stopper tip line at 1-877-NWK-TIPS (1-877-695-8477) or visit www.newarkpd.org. All anonymous Crime Stopper tips are kept confidential.
