Church In Newark Burglarized Over The Weekend

Police are asking the public's help locating a man who broke into a Newark church just after midnight Sunday and tried to make off with a safe.

The burglary occurred sometime before 1 a.m. at Chosen Generation Ministries at 145 Hudson St. The burglar dropped the safe as he left the church but made off with a laptop and office equipment. He fled via the fire escape, police said.

He is described as a Hispanic male and was wearing a black coat and dark jeans.
