Bogota Man Charged After Accidentally Shooting Himself, Blaming Drive-By: Police
A 30-year-old Bogota man was arrested after accidentally shooting himself in the leg and claiming he was the victim of a drive-by, authorities said. Officers called to the 100 block of West Fort Lee Road at 3:40 a.m. Saturday, July 1, found Frederick Bambo Jr., formerly of Paterson, with a gunshot wound in his upper left thigh, Sgt. Geoffrey Cole said. They rendered aid until a Little Ferry EMS rig and paramedics from Holy Name Medical Center arrived. State rules prohibiting pursuits were still in effect when an ex-con wanted by Bogota police got away from them not once but twice. They still got the last laugh. A Long Island fugitive who went to Bogota police headquarters to retrieve an impounded stolen car was promptly arrested, authorities said. Adam Ouattara, 23, of the Bronx was taken into custody following a brief struggle, Sgt. Geoffrey Cole said. Detective Michael Laferrera had found the 2020 BMW 530 parked at The Atwater Apartment Complex on West Fort Lee Road on Friday, Aug. 5, Cole said. A fugitive who eluded Bogota police during what became an aborted pursuit walked right past another officer the next day and was promptly arrested, authorities said. An afternoon Dumpster fire in the garbage room of a Bogota apartment complex sent smoke up to the third and fourth floors and out the roof, firefighters said. Bogota firefighters saw the smoke as they arrived at the Atwater Luxury Apartments along the Hackensack River off West Fort Lee Road around 2 p.m. They were joined at the two-alarm blaze by their firefighting colleagues from Ridgefield Park, Hackensack and Teaneck. OUT: Drunken Bogota Man Falls, Breaks Leg Trying To Reach Upstairs Window
An intoxicated Bogota man who locked himself out of his garden apartment fell and was severely injured trying to climb a fire escape to his window, authorities said. Unable to get in, the 51-year-old victim got two stories up before falling outside the apartment complex on West Fort Lee Road, near River Road, around 10 p.m. Tuesday, they said. An ambulance from Holy Name Medical Center took him to the Hackensack University Medical Center trauma unit with a broken leg and head injury, responders said.

Firefighters Douse Bogota Auto Shop Blaze
Firefighters doused a blaze at a Bogota auto body shop. The two-alarm fire extended into the roof joints at Ace Tekk Collision, at the end of dead-ended West Fort Lee Road, after breaking out around 2:30 p.m. Saturday, the Bogota Fire Departmetn said. Firefighters had the blaze knocked down in just under an hour. Ridgefield Park and Hackensack firefighters assisted with checking the ceiling and walls for additional fire. Bogota police and Bergenfield firefighters also assisted. A firefighter was treated at the scene for a minor injury. Inspectors were determining the cause.
