NEW Rankings: 2 New Jersey Towns Named Among Safest In America A new report from Safewise determined the 100 safest towns in the U.S., and two Garden State locations ranked among the top 10. The study compared FBI crime report data and population information for 2019 — the most recent year the data was available — while excluding towns with populations below 5,000 and above 15,000. Cities that neglected to report complete crime data to the FBI were excluded as well. Survey: 1 In 10 Connecticut Residents Personally Affected By Mass Shootings More than 10 percent of Connecticut residents say they have been, or are close to someone who has been, personally affected by a mass shooting, according to a recent survey. More than 40 percent of residents who responded to a 2020 survey by SafeWise said mass shootings are the violent crime they are most worried about. On a national level, only 28 percent of people said mass shooting worry them that much. North Jersey Communities Named To List Of 100 Safest Places To Live In America Safewise put several Bergen, Morris and Passaic County communities on the map as the safest places to live in America using newly-released crime data. The website considered crime rates and what people in these areas fear the most to compile its list of 100 cities, which saw 504 total offenses in 2017, the report says. New Jersey claimed 30 percent of "America’s 100 safest cities" list while Connecticut took second place with 14, and two of those are in the top three.
