North Jersey Pols Demand Apology From White House After NJ Mayor Turned Away During Ramadan
A consortium of mayors throughout North Jersey are demanding an apology from the White House to Prospect Park Mayor Mohamed Khairullah after he was denied entry for a celebration marking the end of Ramadan. Khairullah, who was recently sworn in for his fifth term as mayor, was told by Secret Service Monday, May 1 that he had not been cleared for entry. 19: More Bergen, Hudson County Schools Close Due To Positive Cases
Three additional schools in Bergen and Hudson counties had closed due to COVID-19 cases as of Friday. Nearly 40 "groups" were under quarantine at Garfield Middle School where a pair of teachers tested positive, school principal and Mayor Richard Rigoglioso said. The school closed after one staff member was in school Oct. 9, and the other Oct. 14. Both likely contracted the virus outside of the school, Rigoglioso said. Presumptive Positive Coronavirus Case Reported In Garfield
Another presumptive case of coronavirus emerged in Bergen County, this time in Garfield, authorities said. The case brings the county total to 14 and state total to 30 as of Thursday evening. Six cases presumptive positive cases in the state were announced by state health officials. The news comes after Bergen County Executive Jim Tedesco announced the indefinite closure of schools across all of the county's 75 municipalities beginning at 3 p.m. Friday.
