A 51-year-old Newark man was killed after he was fatally struck by a vehicle driven by a Paterson police officer on the evening of Monday, Oct. 21, authorities said. The police officer struck a pedestrian as they were exiting the Paterson Police Department parking lot at Memorial Drive, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes and Paterson Police Department Officer-In Charge Isa Abbassi said. A 47-year-old Brooklyn, NY man is facing charges out of Hudson County for an incident that unfolded when he was asked to stop smoking at a hospital, police said. Josh Garner was approached by a security guard at Hudson Regional Hospital at 55 Meadowlands Parkway in Secaucus around 9:20 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16. A 22-year-old man is in custody, and two others are at large, following a New Jersey home invasion and high-speed pursuit in a stolen BMW, police said. Pedestrian Struck, Seriously Injured By Car Crossing Hackensack Street
A pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a vehicle in Hackensack on Wednesday evening, Oct. 16, police said. The 74-year-old Garfield man was crossing Essex Street at Parkway when he was struck by a New York driver, 58, driving a Toyota Corolla around 7:35 p.m., Hackensack Police Chief Michael Antista said. A 22-year-old woman was hospitalized with minor injuries after being struck outside of a Maywood school Tuesday, Oct. 15, police said. The crash happened outside the Maywood Avenue School just before 2 p.m., Sgt. William Phayre said. A 20-year-old man was arrested and charged on Thursday, Oct. 10 after he ran off with a 15-year-old girl in Guttenberg, authorities said.
