Paterson Police Seized 3 Loaded Guns From Two Juveniles, One Adult
Paterson police seized three loaded guns – one of which had been stolen – in a trio of separate incidents just days apart. Two of those taken into custody were each 17 years old, city public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said. One of the juveniles bolted after seeing Detectives Yamil Pimienta, Muhammed Dombayci, Levis Qirjako, and John Rikowich approaching near the corner of Highland and Lyons streets, Speziale said. A knife-wielding Clifton man attacked a local grocery store clerk because she’s Mexican, an indictment charging him with attempted murder alleges. Shairo Gil, 24, pulled out a knife and lunged across the counter at Barrales Grocery on Hadley Avenue without prompting on March 26, Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal said Friday. A driver who struck and seriously injured a pedestrian from Wayne as he crossed a Wanaque street has remained a fugitive, authorities said. A judge released Fredi Landero, 41, of Fall River, Massachusetts, with conditions following the December 2019 crash on Ringwood Avenue, which sent the 62-year-old victim to the hospital. Landero was driving without a license at the time, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said. A Passaic woman who made headlines when her SUV plowed into the front of a Bronx gas station convenience store went on a rampage at a Hawthorne 7-Eleven that continued at police headquarters, authorities said Wednesday.
