Lightning Strike Ignites Paramus House Fire
A lightning strike ignited a fire in a Paramus home Friday morning. The blaze damaged the second floor of the two-story, wood-frame home on Bullard Avenue, off Forest Avenue, after it broke out at around 8:15 a.m. July 14. Firefighters had it doused in under a half hour. No injuries were reported. The third fire in a little over three years at a Paramus garden center severely damaged a greenhouse Wednesday night. Flames erupted at Denny Wiggers Landscapes and Garden Center on Paramus Road across from Bergen Community College shortly before 7:30 p.m. Firefighters quickly knocked it down, with no injuries reported. UPDATE: Firefighters freed an Allendale landscape company driver whose leg was pinned when his truck landed on its side in a Monday afternoon crash on Route 17 in Paramus. Paramus building inspectors were examining a home Wednesday morning after the roof of an attached garage collapsed. Paramus police, firefighters and Rescue Squad members responded to the Hickory Avenue home after a neighbor called 911. No one was injured. Paramus Rescue Squad Frees Victim In Crash
PARAMUS, N.J. -- Members of the Paramus Rescue Squad extricated a trapped passenger following a two-car crash Sunday afternoon. A Paramus EMS ambulance took the victim to Hackensack University Medical Center after a Toyota Corolla he was in collided with a Ford SUV at the intersection of Forest and Oradell avenues.
