An overheight hollow steel tower being transported on a trailer struck and severely damaged the South Broadway bridge in Orangetown at 6:45 a.m. Aug. 31, according to New York State Police. The result: A traffic standstill that at one point stretched nearly a dozen miles, various feeder roadways choked with vehicles and countless motorists looking for a way out. NY Man Killed In Montvale Garden State Parkway Hit-Run A 77-year-old New York man was killed in a hit-and-run crash on the Garden State Parkway in Montvale Thursday night. Howard Perlman was heading northbound in the right lane when his Toyota Venza was struck by an unknown vehicle around 7:10 p.m. near milepost 172.3, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Alejandro Goez said. The Toyota went off the road to the right and struck several trees as the unknown vehicle fled the scene, the sergeant said. She was 93 years old and remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend and caregiver.  Teresa was born to Grace and Patrick Holland on Sept. 17, 1927, on a farm in Rossnowlagh, Ireland on the banks of the Donegal Bay. At the tender age of 15, she left home to work and live with a family in Belfast, likely applying some of the practical skills she had learned on the farm.  Several years later, she moved to London where she trained to become a registered nurse, attending to the sick and injured in the difficult years followin…
