A New York State Police trooper is recovering after being shot on a Long Island highway. The incident happened on the Southern State Parkway in West Hempstead, in the westbound lanes near exit 17, late Wednesday night, Oct. 30. 500 Tickets Issued, 30 Vehicles Of Toll Violators Impounded In Single Day At NJ Bridge
Police issued 500 summonses and impounded 30 vehicles of persistent toll violators and users of fake or obstructed license plates, officials said. The Oct. 15 operation was a collaboration between the Port Authority of NY/NJ Police, NYPD, and New York State Police, and more, which also netted six arrests. The incident occurred on the Westchester/Rockland County border around 2:30 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 13. A man on an outing with his family at Harriman State Park drowned after jumping into the lake and swimming about 100 feet away. Bergen County Man Takes Fatal Leap From NY's Bear Mountain Bridge
A 48-year-old man jumped to his death from a Hudson Valley bridge. The incident took place on Friday, Nov. 10 at the Bear Mountain Bridge near in the town of Cortlandt in Northern Westchester County. According to New York State Police Trooper AJ Hicks, New Jersey resident Aleksey P. Mikhaylov, of Northvale, was located and pronounced dead at the scene.
