TGI Fridays Closing 7 NJ Restaurants, 30 Total Locations Across Northeast
TGI Fridays is closing nearly 30 "underperforming" locations across the northeast and will sell eight restaurants to the chain's former CEO, the chain said in a news release. The 27 closures include restaurants in Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Virginia. In total, 36 TGI Fridays locations are shutting down nationwide. The company says about 1,000 employees, which represent more than 80% of those impacted, will be offered transfer opportunities. A New Hampshire man convicted of murder in the gruesome Massachusetts death of a New Jersey native has been sentenced to life in prison without parole, WCVB reports. Julian Squires, 48, from Manchester, was found guilty on charges of murder and kidnapping for his role in the Nov. 3, 2015 killing of Ashley Bortner, 29, of Paulsboro, the Plymouth County District Attorney's Office previously said. A teen and two adults were killed when a car slammed into a tollbooth on the Atlantic City Expressway Sunday night, New Jersey State Police said.
