Coach USA Terminates 20 NJ Transit Lines In Filing For Bankruptcy, NJT 'Exploring Every Option'
The pressure is on for NJ Transit. The company was left high and dry when Coach USA announced it would be terminating its agreement with the major transportation company, halting service to 20 of its bus routes in Bergen, Hudson, and Passaic counties come Aug. 16. In his first extended public comment since claims of misconduct at the local police academy were revealed by Daily Voice last month, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella confirmed that an investigation by his office is underway. “We take all allegations of misconduct seriously, and we immediately began an investigation” into the allegations at the Bergen County Police Academy in Mahwah after being notified of the alleged improprieties. A firefighter was treated for chest pains during a large brush fire that spread perilously close to homes near the Teaneck section of Overpeck Park. "It's raining ashes," resident Kelly Bacon Fousse said after the fire ignited in the area south of Degraw Avenue between Route 95 and Teaneck Road around 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 11. Bergen County DPW Worker Killed In Saddle River Tree Removal Operation Identified
A Bergen County DPW worker who killed during a tree removal operation in Saddle River Thursday has been identified by county officials. Thomas Epper, 48, was a two-year heavy equipment operator in the Bergen County DPW, County Executive James Tedesco announced. A $2.2 million contract has been awarded to repair the Seven Pipes Bridge in the Oradell Reservoir. Bergen County officials on Thursday awarded a contract to replace the Closter-Harrington Park bridge over the northeastern part of the reservoir.
