UPDATE: What began as the investigation of three correctional officers following the death of a New Jersey inmate took a dramatic turn with manslaughter charges filed against two of them and new counts brought against five police officers who dropped him off at their jail. A state grand jury in Trenton charged Atlantic County Correctional Sgt. A 35-year-old man was killed when he was sideswiped by a turning vehicle, sending his car into a utility pole in Mercer County, authorities said. Joseph Celinski was heading north on Whitehorse-Merceville Road in Hamilton, when he was struck by a 39-year-old Honda driver turning out of Killarney’s Publick House around 4:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 22, Hamilton police said. Swatting Calls Prompt Lockdown At Half-Dozen NJ Schools
At least a half dozen high schools were locked down in New Jersey due to "swatting" calls, authorities said. The Hardyston Township Police Department responded to Wallkill Valley Regional High School after receiving several 911 calls of a potential active shooter situation around 9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 14, the department said.
