A 26-year-old man has been charged with arson after setting two county-owned vehicles on fire in the parking lot of a private high school in Hackensack, authorities said. A 30-year-old New Milford man has been arrested after an attempted sex assault at the Shops at Riverside in Hackensack, authorities said. Craig Herbert followed the victim into a restroom at the Hackensack Avenue and Route 4 shopping center and shoved her to the floor, where he tried sexually assaulting her on Friday, July 26, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said. The woman was able to fight off Herbert before calling 9-1-1, Musella said. The 27 Boston Market stores in New Jersey that were issued stop work orders last month for failing to pay hundreds of employees have reopened. It gets better, the workers have been compensated. The chicken chain became the center of an investigation by the state's labor department when East Hanover employee Cathy Grimes reported that she and the dozen workers she managed hadn't been paid for two months, the DOL said. No serious injuries were reported when a small school bus carrying a group of high schoolers slid into a utility pole in Hackensack during an icy morning filled with crashes throughout North Jersey. An SUV slammed into the front of an auto shop in Hackensack after the driver cut off another motorist, authorities said. The 67-year-old Honda Pilot driver made a right turn from University Plaza onto River Street, cutting off a 2008 Nissan Altima that was headed south from Hackensack Avenue, around 9 a.m. Tuesday, Capt. Hackensack Woman, 19, Charged With Killing Newborn Boy
Authorities charged a Hackensack woman with killing her newborn son. Kimberly Aponte, 19, hid the unwanted pregnancy from her family, authorities said. Aponte gave birth before dawn Saturday to a full-term boy whom she then wrapped in a towel and stuffed into a hamper, they said. A 73-year-old ex-con from Englewood robbed a Hackensack bank of $10,000 last October and an Englewood bank of $3,000 earlier this month, authorities charged. Bergen Academies Locked Down, County Bomb Squad Collects Unattended Toolbox
Someone was missing a beaten-up old toolbox that was found in front of the Bergen County Academies in Hackensack on Tuesday, temporarily locking down the school and drawing the bomb squad. Nearby workers and janitors at the Hackensack Avenue facility told authorities that the box didn’t belong to them. So, taking no chances, they called the Bergen County Bomb Squad around 3:30 p.m. to collect it. Inside, squad members found tools and safety glasses, among other items commonly found in tool boxes.

Englewood Man Caught Stealing Power Tools From Cars At Home Depot Again
An Englewood man who in March was caught taking power tools from a truck in the parking lot of Hackensack Avenue's Home Depot was captured on surveillance video doing the exact same thing in the exact same lot, authorities said.
