UPDATE: A man who committed suicide by running in front of a commuter train in Garfield on Saturday hours after law enforcement officials said he beat his roommate to death in their illegal basement apartment was identified Monday, along with the murder victim. A 41-year-old Garfield truck loader is facing sex assault charges after an investigation found that he touched a juvenile boy's buttocks in the supermarket, authorities announced. Boy, 12, Killed By Truck In Garfield Emigrated From Albania Last Week
GARFIELD, N.J. -- (UPDATE) A 12-year-old Albanian boy who was struck and killed by a box truck in Garfield on Tuesday had just emigrated to New Jersey a few days earlier. Identified by his cousin as Elios Xhemollari, the boy was riding alongside the truck's right side on the sidewalk of eastbound Lanza Avenue when the 43-year-old truck driver made a right turn onto Pleasant Avenue, hitting the boy, at 1:17 p.m. Tuesday, Capt. GARFIELD, N.J. – Garfield police on Tuesday issued a composite sketch of one of two robbers who they said pistol-whipped a mechanic and strapped him to a chair in shrink wrap.
