Boy With Autism, Father Reunited By Paramus Police After Jarring 2 Hours
Police officers in Paramus reunited a 13-year-old boy with autism and his father after the boy wandered off from the family home Sunday morning, Oct. 27, authorities said. The 5'9" Black male was wearing a black tracksuit and red and white sneakers when he wandered off near Split Rock Road around 8:15 a.m., Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti said. Bergenfield Man, 57, Drowns At Ramapo Reservation In Mahwah
A rescue mission turned into a recovery after a Bergenfield man drowned early Saturday night in the upper lake at the Ramapo Valley Reservation in Mahwah. The victim was reported missing about an hour after he was last seen, responders said. A Mahwah police drone located the body, as various police, firefighters and dive teams converged on the scene. WATCH: Drones will be flying around the city of Elizabeth warning citizens to follow Gov. Phil Murphy's social distancing directives or face fines of up to $1,000, Mayor Chris Bollwage said. Elizabeth police have been using drones since 2018, but they've gotten five newer models with voice capabilities, Bollwage said Tuesday. Union Police Adding Drone Unit, Joining A Growing Number Of Departments
The Union Police Department has become the latest law enforcement agency to employ drones in public safety work, the agency announced Wednesday. The UPD's Drone Unit will be called in on search and rescue operations, especially for missing children and elderly people, providing vital assistance for nighttime searches. Although some experts called it highly unlikely – primarily because of the weather – the FAA said a pair of drones were spotted flying 3,500 feet over Teterboro Airport, bumping flight times there and at Newark Liberty International Airport.
