Gotcha! Leonia Officer Quickly Finds Familiar Face Who Fled Traffic Stop: Police
A repeat offender who might’ve thought he’d given a Leonia police sergeant the slip would've been wrong.
It began when Leonia Police Sgt. Ray Forsdahl tried to stop a BMW with New York plates for a violation in the area of Broad and Lakeview avenues, Capt. Chris Garris said.
The driver kept going, though, getting onto southbound Route 95, the captain said on Friday, Dec. 1.
Forsdahl pursued him for a ways, then dropped back out of safety reasons, he said.
Besides, he knew who the driver was.

Crack Found, Dad Seized, Child Taken, Rochelle Park Police Say
A wanted Rochelle Park man was arrested and his young child placed with a guardian after police caught the dad trying to discard a bag of crack, authorities said.
Sharod Naji Gandy, 33, had actually gone to Rochelle Park police headquarters on his own to file a police report on an unrelated matter on Sunday, April 17, Detective Lt. James M. DePreta said.
He quickly ducked out, however, after officers did a quick computer check and learned that Gandy was wanted on an outstanding warrant, DePreta said.

Saddle Brook Police Fish Fleeing Lodi Ex-Con Out Of River
SADDLE BROOK, N.J. -- A wanted Lodi ex-con hopped a highway guard rail and jumped into the Saddle River but was quickly grabbed by police, authorities said.
Steven W. Gore, 34, lied to Saddle Brook police who stopped him Wednesday on eastbound Route 46, then jumped over a guardrail and down an embankment to the river, Police Chief Robert Kugler said.
Gore, who was wanted on warrants out of Passaic, Paterson and Lodi, was taken into custody and turned over to Lodi police before being lodged in the Bergen County Jail.
