Stolen Car Stopped By Paterson Detectives Produces Two Guns, Three Arrests
Paterson detectives nabbed three armed men in a car reported stolen out of Clifton, authorities said.
Detectives Suquan Gary, Levis Qirjako and Luis Roca spotted the 2019 Toyota Corolla -- which had been stolen the day before -- stopped at a light at the corner of Bridge Street and Memorial Drive, city Public Safety Director Jerry Speziale said.
They "quickly positioned their unmarked vehicle, exited it, and approached" the Corolla, the director said.

Hit-Run Victim, 66, Seriously Injured, Commercial Van Driver Jailed In Paterson
The driver of a commercial van was jailed after authorities said he struck a 66-year-old pedestrian in Paterson and sped off.
A 2021 Dodge Ram ProMaster driven by Yonatan Sanchez, 26, of Paterson struck the victim near the corner of Bridge and Godwin streets shortly before 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Chief Ibrahim Baycora said Friday.
The victim, also from Paterson, was taken to St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, “where he was receiving treatment for serious bodily injuries,” they said.

An Elmwood Park bank robber wrote a holdup note on a page ripped from the owner’s manual of a stolen car, said authorities who captured him.
James A. Lassiter, 66, of Paterson entered the Chase Bank branch in the Elmwood Park Center on Broadway the morning of Sept. 3 dressed in an all-white hooded sweatsuit, white sneakers, gloves, a facemask and sunglasses, Police Chief Michael Foligno said.
He passed a note and “repeatedly threatened to shoot the teller if she didn't comply," the chief said.
