Front Loader Tips, Lands On Driver In Bogota
A construction worker escaped serious injury when a front loader tipped and landed on top of him in Bogota. The worker was clearing property on the former site of the Bogota Golf Center on Cross Street when the machine fell down an embankment shortly after 3 p.m. Friday, May 5, Police Sgt. Geoffrey Cole said. Police, firefighters and members of the Bogota Rescue Squad responded along with BLS and ALS units from Holy Name Medical Center in Teaneck, the sergeant said. The victim, who'd climbed out, was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center with minor leg and arm injuries, Cole said.

Children Tossed From Fire Escape Into Hackensack Heroes' Arms
Hackensack firefighters caught two children tossed to them by their parents during an overnight apartment building blaze. The city's bravest arrived at the four-story brick building on Prospect Avenue shortly after 12:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 26, to find several residents on the fire escapes trying to flee the second-floor blaze. Other children, as well as adults, were rescued safely after two youngsters were dropped to the firefighters from the escapes. No injuries were reported, fire officials said. Late-Night Hackensack Taco Bell Fire Doused
Hackensack firefighters doused a late-night blaze at a local Taco Bell. Companies opened an exterior wall and section of roof to extinguish the cockloft flames at the South River Street eatery shortly before 11:30 p.m. Sunday. They had the fire under control within 45 minutes. No injuries were reported. An afternoon Dumpster fire in the garbage room of a Bogota apartment complex sent smoke up to the third and fourth floors and out the roof, firefighters said. Bogota firefighters saw the smoke as they arrived at the Atwater Luxury Apartments along the Hackensack River off West Fort Lee Road around 2 p.m. They were joined at the two-alarm blaze by their firefighting colleagues from Ridgefield Park, Hackensack and Teaneck. Firefighters Douse Bogota Auto Shop Blaze
Firefighters doused a blaze at a Bogota auto body shop. The two-alarm fire extended into the roof joints at Ace Tekk Collision, at the end of dead-ended West Fort Lee Road, after breaking out around 2:30 p.m. Saturday, the Bogota Fire Departmetn said. Firefighters had the blaze knocked down in just under an hour. Ridgefield Park and Hackensack firefighters assisted with checking the ceiling and walls for additional fire. Bogota police and Bergenfield firefighters also assisted. A firefighter was treated at the scene for a minor injury. Inspectors were determining the cause.

Compactor Fire Clears Route 4 Mall
The Shops at Riverside off Route 4 in Hackensack was evacuated Tuesday as city firefighters doused a compactor blaze. Sprinklers temporarily kept the fire in check before firefighters took over on the Macy's loading dock beneath the parking garage shortly before 2 p.m. A DPW truck pulled the contractor out so they could extinguish the blaze. Fire Ravages Clutter-Filled Teaneck Home
Flames roared through the upper-floor windows of a Teaneck home that responders said was filled with clutter. No injuries were reported in the two-alarm Beverly Road blaze, which broke out around 10:30 p.m. Friday amid what responders said were hoarding conditions. Hackensack and Englewood firefighters joined their Teaneck colleagues at the scene, while those from Bergenfield, Bogota and Ridgefield Park covered the township. No immediate official cause had been disclosed.

No one was hurt in a car fire in Bogota late Friday, authorities said. Police and firefighters from Bogota and Ridgefield Park responded to the 11:45 p.m. fire on Palisade Avenue at Route 80, Police Sgt. Geoffrey Cole said. Bogota firefighters quickly doused the blaze.

TEANECK, N.J. -- Authorities Sunday afternoon found the bodies of an elderly Teaneck couple killed when a fire roared through their home hours earlier, multiple law enforcement sources told Daily Voice. Gerald and Rosanne Ryan, both 81, were trapped by flames that blew through the 2½-story house on Sherman Avenue just after 6:35 a.m. Excavators had to shore up what was left of the home before being able to comb through the wreckage for their remains.
