: Traveler From CT Admiring View Falls 60 Feet Down Palisades
A man apparently admiring the view from atop the cliffs near the George Washington Bridge fell nearly 60 feet, authorities said after he was rescued by rappellers. The 38-year-old victim from Manchester, CT had walked to the edge to take photos near the Mobil service station off the northbound Palisades Interstate Parkway in Englewood Cliffs when he lost his footing shortly after 7 a.m. Friday, Sept. 2, a woman who described herself as his girlfriend told police. Falling Tree Branch Clips Bergen County Park-Goer
A man escaped serious injury when he was grazed by a falling tree branch in the Glen Rock section of Saddle River County Park. Members of the Glen Rock Volunteer Ambulance Corps brought the man to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood as a precautionary measure after he'd been struck on the arm and head shortly after 4:30 p.m. Thursday. A 33-year-old New Jersey man who died in a crash on the PA Turnpike was set to marry next weekend, news reports say citing authorities. Harry Jackson Jr., of Brigantine, was in a Mustang 2011 Ford Mustang that struck the cab of a tractor trailer on the PA Turnpike Friday, July 29, killing him, LehighValleyLive reports. 1-Year-Old Bergen County Baby Severely Burned By Scalding Coffee
A 1-year-old boy was severely burned when he pulled a cup of scalding hot coffee from the top of a TV in the family living room, Garfield police said. The boy suffered second-degree burns on his upper right chest and upper right shoulder in the 8:45 a.m. accident Wednesday on Malcolm Avenue, Capt. Mario Pozo said. Roaring Shed Fire Doused In Cresskill
A July 4th fire consumed a shed and damaged two homes in Cresskill. The fire ignited just 15 feet from the Beechwood Road home just off Knickerbocker Road shortly before 3:30 p.m. Monday, responders said. Everyone in the house got out OK and no injuries were reported. The house and a neighbor's house sustained some damage, as did nearby trees and a length of wooden fencing. Flames Swallow Wildwood's Windward Motel
Flames swept through a Wildwood motel causing nearly $500,000 in damages Tuesday, June 14. Squads arrived to the Ocean Avenue motel around 11:30 a.m. as the fire consumed the second floor. Firefighters cut a trench cut in the roof of the motel to help contain the blaze, which was under control in about 90 minutes. The cause was deemed accidental and no injuries were reported.

Target Shooter, 73, Accidentally Wounds Himself At Passaic County Gun Range
A 73-year-old man accidentally clipped the tip of his index finger at a Passaic County gun range over the weekend, authorities said. Officers who responded to Gun For Hire at the Woodland Park Range on McBride Avenue around noon Sunday tended to the victim before EMS arrived, Police Chief John Uzzalino said. He was taken to St. Joseph's University Medical Center in Paterson for treatment. As often happens, scanner listeners mistakenly shared word of the incident as a shooting at McBride and Lackawanna avenues instead of what it was.The chief thanked everyone for their concern.

Authorities on Monday identified a resident killed in a weekend apartment fire at a senior living community in Ridgewood. The body of Denise Dillon, 72, was found after firefighters doused the flames in her unit at the Ridgecrest Senior Housing development on Ridge Road shortly after 7:30 p.m., Police Chief Jacqueline Luthcke said. "At this time, it appears that the fire started accidentally," Lutchcke said. A crash with a Porsche sent an SUV into a utility pole at a busy Lodi intersection. Both the Nissan Rogue and the Cabriolet convertible were severely damaged in the crash outside the BP station at Essex Street and Riverview Avenue just off westbound Route 80 around midnight Saturday. A New Jersey man trying to flee from the third floor of a hospital fell to his death after trying to use a makeshift bedsheet as a rope, RLSmedia reports. A homeless man was hospitalized after he fell a dozen or so feet from a railing at a mall in Paramus over the weekend, responders said.
