Man, 34, Struck By Car On Route 3 Had Gotten Out Of Vehicle After Crash: Police
A man was hospitalized after being struck by a vehicle on Route 3 Thursday morning, Oct. 31, police said. Police said that the 34-year-old man was a passenger in a vehicle that had just been involved in a single-vehicle crash when he got out and proceeded to walk along the highway around 10 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of East Rutherford. That's when the man was struck by a vehicle eastbound. The victim suffered leg and back injuries and was taken to Hackensack Medical Center. The highway was reopened around 10:50 a.m.

Accused Hackensack Arsonist Caught Breaking Into New Milford Library: Police
A 26-year-old man recently accused of arson was arrested after he broke into the New Milford Library on Monday, Oct. 28, authorities said. At 11:19 pm, officers were dispatched to the New Milford Public Library on a report of a activated burglar alarm, New Milford police said. Upon arriving on scene, officers observed a broken rear window to the building with shattered glass inside and out, police said. Freak Accident Kills Boy, 12, Playing In NJ Backyard: Police
A New Jersey boy was killed when a tree fell on him in a backyard, authorities said. Lucas Schwartz, 12, was identified as the victim of the Eldridge Avenue incident in Lawrence Township on a GoFundMe page. Police said he'd been playing with a friend in the backyard of a home when gusty winds blew the tree over, and it fell onto him around 12:09 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14. Teen Among 2 Struck By Cars In Ridgewood 30 Minutes Apart: Police
Two people including a 17-year-old boy were struck by vehicles in separate incidents minutes apart on Thursday morning, Oct. 10. The first incident involved the teen at 8:08 a.m., Ridgewood Police Capt. Glenn Ender said. He was riding an electric bicycle when he collided with a vehicle on Ackerman Avenue near Lenox. Minor injuries were reported and he was not hospitalized. Then, at 8:27 a.m., a 24-year-old woman was struck at N. Maple Avenue and E. Ridgewood Avenue. She was taken to The Valley Hospital in Paramus with minor injuries, Ender said.

Aviation Repair Shop Seriously Damaged By Vehicle Rolling Off Tow Truck On Route 17
A truck being towed down Route 17 fell off the tow truck and seriously damaged a building overnight, firefighters said. The Hasbrouck Heights and Wood-Ridge fire departments were called to the southbound side of the highway around midnight. There, they found the antique truck into the side of Miraj Corporation, an aircraft repair company, at 345 Route 17. While no injuries were reported, the impact caused significant damage to the building, the fire department said.

Pedestrian Struck, Seriously Injured On Garden State Parkway
A pedestrian was hospitalized with serious injuries after being struck by a camper on the Garden State Parkway, authorities said. The Ford E350 Camper was heading south when it struck the unidentified pedestrian walking in the roadway at milepost 145.2 in Irvington around 8:05 p.m. Friday, Sept. 13, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Charles Marchan said. The pedestrian suffered serious injuries and was taken to an area hospital. The crash remains under investigation, and no additional information is available.

A child was hospitalized after being struck by a van while riding a scooter on a Bergen County street Wednesday afternoon, Aug. 21, police said.
