“She never displayed a weapon or uttered a word,” Detective Capt. Timothy Torell told CLIFFVIEW PILOT tonight.
“We’re treating the incident as a probable bank robber who got ‘cold feet’ at the last minute,” he said.
Given the time of day and the location of the PNC Bank branch — on Engle Street near busy East Palisade Avenue — investigators are hoping someone has area surveillance video, or may have noticed the woman and captured images of her.
Torell said she walked into the bank at 2:55 p.m. wearing the getup along with what witnesses said were “skinny jeans.”
“Based on what we could determine from surveillance footage, it appeared the woman lingered outside on the sidewalk and hesitated to enter several times because of pedestrian traffic in and around the bank,” he said.
“She finally entered the front doors and walked several yards into the branch where there were customers and employees,” the captain said.
“She stopped and visually scanned the interior of the bank before turning around and leaving in a very hurried fashion,” he said.
Police figure her about 5-foot-3 and petite.
She was last seen heading south.
