Palisades Interstate Parkway Police got several calls just after 1 o’clock of a speeding black Honda missing one of its tires, Lt. Michael Coppola said tonight.
Moments later, PIP Officer Richard Dey found the crashed car — reported stolen out of West Harlem’s 30th precinct — just north of PIP Exit 4 in Alpine, he said.
Off-duty officers passing by reported seeing three males take off, Coppola said.
Backup Officers Jeffrey Kimbro and Frankie Garrett quickly located one subject running in the woods just south of the crash scene, the lieutenant said.
Orangetown and New York State Police found the second a short time later on Route 9W at Exit 4 of the parkway, he said.
A search for the third included officers from the PIP, Orangetown, Alpine, Clarkstown and New York State Police.
After 40 minutes minutes or so, Orangetown Police Officers John Makara and Richard Holihan spotted him walking down a Lamont Observatory roadway.
All three were taken to PIP headquarters in Alpine and ordered held on $70,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with receiving stolen property and eluding police.
The driver, 18-year old Lawrence Ferdinand of West 144th Street, was identified as a member of the Trinitarios gang.
His passengers: Christopher Duval, 21, of Broadway, and 18-year-old Jesus Hernandez of West 143rd Street.
All are due in court on Tuesday.
