Responding to an 11:15 p.m. call to the County Road convenience store on Saturday, Officer Matthew Savitsky recognized Toni Ljulidurovic, 25, of Pelham, from a traffic stop a few weeks ago, Capt. Michael deMoncada said Tuesday.
Ljulidurovic was driving a Mercedes Benz during that stop that Savitsky coincidentally wrote a ticket for outside the 7-Eleven a short time before Saturday night's call, deMoncada added.
Moments later, Cresskill police heard Tenafly's alert after stopping the Mercedes for an unrelated offense on Knickerbocker Road, the captain said.
Savitsky and fellow Officer Manuel Fidel headed there and took Ljulidurovic into custody.
Cresskill officers, meanwhile, found the stolen scratch-off tickets scattered along the shoulder of the road.
Ljulidurovic was released on a court summons charging him with shoplifting. Cresskill police charged him with minor drug possession.
