YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: A 40-year-old woman staggered into the emergency room of Englewood Hospital and collapsed after being stabbed and strangled by her 45-year-old live-in boyfriend, authorities said.
He then stabbed himself in the stomach before a relative drove him to the hospital, where he is being held on attempted murder charges.
It was 4:20 a.m. Saturday when the critically wounded woman collapsed at the hospital after walking a half-mile from their apartment, said Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli.
She had been stabbed several times in her upper body and left arm after being choked with a nylon rope, he said.
Englewood police were already there when James Guerrero-Diaz, of Waldo Place, showed up soon after. They promptly arrested him, the prosecutor said. A judge set bail at $500,000.
Guerrero-Diaz is in stable condition, while his girlfriend is in critical but stable condition, Molinelli said. Two children who were in another area of the house were placed elsewhere by DYFS, he said.
