Both the driver, Brian Montaos of Valley Cottage, and passenger Parth Patel of Northvale were out of the burning car after it crashed just after 2 a.m. Oct. 11, , Police Chief Christopher Belcolle said.

Alpine firefighters extinguished the blaze, he said.

Both victims were taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, where the chief said Montaos was listed in stable condition and Patel guarded.
