Officers Gregory Kimbro and Jeffrey Lamboy spotted the Volkswagen Jetta with equipment violations parked at the northbound Mobil gas station on the PIP around 10:20 a.m. Monday, Police Chief Michael Coppola said.
They directed all four occupants to get out after smelling the marijuana, he said.
The driver, Demetrios Andriopoulos, 20, from Little Neck, as well as his passengers -- Daniel Colflesh, also 20 of Little Neck, Steven Devito, 18, of Staten Island and 20-year-old Mark Matinale of Douglaston -- all had licenses of other legitimate drivers, Coppola said.
The officers took them into custody and searched the car, he said.
They found various containers, a bong, rolling papers and other paraphernalia, some with marijuana residue, the chief said.
In the trunk they found a Powerline air-powered handgun with ammo and a Remington Black Magic air-powered rifle that all four claimed ownership of, he said.

Andriopoulos and DeVito were ordered held on $22,000 bail each, Matinale on $20,000 bail and Colflesh on $20,500 in the Bergen County Jail on a variety of drug and weapons possession charges.
