Vince M. Molluso, 49, of New City in Rockland County, was under the influence of alcohol or narcotics when Sgt. Kley Peralta and Officer Jeffrey Kimbro stopped his white 2001 Toyota Tundra on the Palisades Interstate Parkway northbound, just shy of the Tappan border, at 9:20 a.m., PIP Police Lt. Michael J. Coppola said.
Their RADAR clocked the truck at 76 miles an hour in what is a 50 mph zone, Coppola said.
Both smelled burnt marijuana, leading the officers to request a search of the vehicle, which the lieutenant said Molluso granted.
That’s when they turned up “cocaine, marijuana, Ecstasy, prescription pills, various drug paraphernalia, an illegal knife, a loaded BB-rifle, a .22 caliber rifle with [a] scope, an AR-15 assault rifle, and 20 armor piercing rounds,” Coppola said.
Molluso is being held on $187,500 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with a host of weapons and drug offenses, in addition to several traffic summonses.
New City — not to be mistaken for New York City — is the hub of the Rockland town of Clarkstown.
