Palisades Interstate Parkway Police Officer Michael Griffin stopped a 2014 gray minivan driven 36-year-old Tommy “Guido” Borzumato of Astoria, Queens on the parkway’s southbound side just south of the Alpine exit around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday.
He “immediately observed an odor of burnt marijuana emanating from the vehicle” and ordered Borzumato out, PIPPD Chief Michael Coppola said.
A search turn up “a plastic bag with mushrooms”, a plastic bag with Oxycodone, a plastic bag with hashish, 2 plastic bags of marijuana, 1 partially smoked marijuana cigarette, 2 digital scales, 2 metal grinders, 12 unwrapped cigars, approximately 79 counterfeit DVD’s, and several packages of fireworks,” Coppola wrote.
“In addition to criminal charges for each of the illegal items, he also received motor vehicle summonses for: speeding, improper passing, open alcohol container in a vehicle and possessing narcotics in a vehicle,” the chief said.
Borzumato posted $18,000 bail hours after his arrest and was released from the Bergen County Jail pending a court hearing and grand jury action.
