The man appeared confused when he pulled up to Officer Michael Cavezza on Boulevard East in a 1993 Chrysler New Yorker around 7 p.m., the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo said this morning.

Cavezza “asked the driver where he wanted to go and the man uttered statements the officer couldn’t understand,” Pentangelo said. “The man’s statements led the officer to believe he was confused.”

The man eventually produced a commercial driver’s license and said that he’s a trucker, Pengtengelo said.

That’s when the officer conducted a computer check and found the missing persons report from Wednesday.

Detectives had to man taken to Hoboken General Hospital by ambulance, then contacted police in South Carolina and the man’s son in Society Hill.

He was remaining at the hospital until they come to get him, Pentangelo said.
