Englewood shooting victim won’t tell police what happened

YOU READ IT HERE FIRST: Just because the victim won’t cooperate doesn’t mean Englewood police won’t track down, arrest and charge whoever shot him in the leg, authorities said this afternoon.

Englewood police got a call from their Teaneck colleagues after the 24-year-old man showed up at Holy Name Medical Center just after 2 a.m. yesterday, Detective Capt. Timothy Torell told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

He told them he’d been shot “as a party was winding down in the Forest Gardens apartment complex in Englewood,” Torell said, “but he would not identify the person who shot him.

“He would only give us his name, a date of birth and a location he had allegedly been shot in – none of which we could independently corroborate.

“We sent officers and detectives to the location and could find no signs of a party or a shooting,” the captain said.

Police have other information they’re following up on.

“Because someone chooses not to cooperate in such a serious situation doesn’t mean our detectives stop investigating,” Torell said.

“Some of the issues we deal with in this type of situation is:What was on the other end of this shooting? Is there someone out there who is also injured in another location? Do we have a scenario in which two individuals were shooting at each other that endangered innocent citizens?

“There are leads we will be pursuing.”

Anyone with information that could help the investigation is asked to call Englewood detectives: (201) 568-4875.

All calls will remain confidential, Torell said.
