Fernando Bermudez-Arroyave (MUGSHOT: Bergen County Prosecutor)
Detectives from the Englewood Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit arrested Fernando Bermudez-Arroyave of Tryon Avenue on Monday after the girl, now 15, told someone at school and authorities were immediately notified.
“The incident occurred in March 2010 when the victim was thirteen years old but went unreported,” Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli said. “The incident was first reported by the victim to school personnel who contacted the Division of Youth and Family Services and law enforcement.”
Bermudez-Arroyave, who is married, is being held on $250,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, charged with aggravated sexual assault and child endangerment. A judge also ordered him to surrender his passport.
A Feb. 29 Municipal Court date in Englewood is scheduled.
