Frederick Williams Jr. remained held on $75,000 bail in the Bergen County Jail, following the arrest before dawn Saturday. He’s charged with possession of the gun and ammo, as well as pot, Xanax and a knife.

Officers on the special detail moved in on Williams while conducting a drug investigation on Wides Corner, a small business area in the City’s 4th Ward where West Englewood Avenue, Mattlage Place and Lafayette Place all converge.

“Drugs were spotted, in plain view, in a backpack that was in a Kia Soul that belonged to Williams,” Detective Capt. Timothy Torell told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

He was taken to headquarters, where the gun and bullets were found, Torell said.
