The vehicle that struck and killed Paul Kudowitz as he was crossing Broad Street at the corner of Allison Street at 5:30 Christmas Eve might be a Chevy, authorities said.
It has only one front headlight, damage to the headlight’s housing and turn signal, and possibly hood dents or windshield cracks, Bergen County Prosecutor John L. Molinelli told authorities told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
The vehicle dragged Kudowitz — an anesthesiologist and pain management specialist with nearly 30 years of experience. The father of six eventually fell to the ground, and the vehicle roared south on Broad.
“There is significant debris in the roadway,” one investigator said, adding that it will allow investigations to “run some part numbers to narrow down” the vehicle.
Kudowitz, who also worked from an office in Astoria, Queens, was an active member of the Aleh Foundation, which helps disabled children in Israel. He leaves a wife, Ricki, 56, and a teenaged daughter, Robyn, among his five daughters and son, Brian.
