One had been released two nights earlier after being caught with 300 decks of heroin, CVP has learned.

Officer Sean Flannelly stopped their car on a side street after Brian T. Moore of Pine Bush and Driton Kukaj of Brooklyn, both 32, pulled out of the Lukoil station on Sylvan Avenue just before 6:30 p.m.

The owner had called police because one of them had been in the bathroom an unusually long time, Capt. Brian Murray said.

In plain view in a side door panel were syringes with needles, he said.

Flannelly, joined by Police Chief Michael Cioffi and Officer Mark Krapels, returned to the station and found the heroin decks in the bathroom, the captain said.

“Some were used, but most of them were full,” Murphy said.

Moore and Kukaj were initially taken to Bergen Regional Medical Center under the influence of heroin.

They were then transferred to the Bergen County Jail, where they remained held this morning on $50,000 bail each, charged with possessing and distributing heroin.

Elmwood Park police arrested the 6-foot-2-inch, 180-pound Moore with heroin two nights ago. He was released on a summons pending a court hearing, Police Chief Michael Foligno told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.
