“Did she party? Probably, yes,” Jana Bobek told The Associated Press. “I know she’s a wonderful person and she has a very good heart and a lot of time that’s been taken advantage of.”
Nicole Bobek, 31, was arrested in Florida last week on a warrant out of New Jersey and brought to Hudson County for an initial appearance on Monday.
Bobek was “actively involved in the upper echelon of this ring” and could be looking at up to 10 years behind bars if convicted, said veteran Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio.
“She played a significant role in this operation,” he added.
Earlier this week, Bobek appeared via video link from the county jail in Kearny — dressed in green prison attire, her hair short and dark-colored — where a judge ordered her to remain held on $200,000 cash bail.
It was a far cry from the blonde bombshell who skated her way to several figure skating titles.
Bobek was part of a major meth ring busted by authorities. Nearly two dozen people were arrested — most from our area — but her name was being withheld until she could be taken into custody and returned to Hudson County, DeFazio said.
He wouldn’t say whether she used the drug, or was in the distribution ring for the gold.
The methamphetamine was brought in from the West Coast by the operation, which sold $10,000 worth of ice a week in Hudson, Bergen and Essex counties, authorities said.

A conviction on the charges could bring up to 10 years in state prison.
