James Richardson
James Richardson fled after attacking his wife during an argument in May 2010 in which he choked, punched, and kicked her while threatening to kill her, Sheriff Michael Saudino said.
But he came back, and members of the sheriff’s Warrant Unit found him hiding in a closet at a friend’s place in Englewood.
“This incident proves that no matter how long you run, ultimately justice will catch up to you,” Saudino said. “Congratulations to the Warrant Unit and the investigators who facilitated this arrest.”
A Bergen County grand jury indicted Richardson in October on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, terrorist threats and weapons offenses.
A month later, Superior Court Judge Liliana DeAvila-Silebi issued a warrant for Richardson’s arrest. Investigators had identified locations Maryland, New Jersey and New York as possible whereabouts.
Richardson is being held without bail at the Bergen County Jail pending a Superior Court appearance Tuesday.
