ENGLEWOOD CLIFFS, N.J. -- A DWI driver from the Bronx escaped injury after his van split a utility pole on 9W in Englewood Cliffs overnight Wednesday, thickening traffic throughout the day.
Workers were finally able to remove the van just before 5 p.m., after utility crews untangled the wires that fell after the 4:30 a.m. crash at Hollywood Avenue.
Police Chief Michael Cioffi was right when he told Daily Voice early Wednesday that it would be an all-day job.
"None of the wires broke and the power wasn't interrupted," Cioffi said. "[The driver] is lucky he got out of it OK."
