Lester Robert Jacoby, 79, Englewood Resident

ENGLEWOOD, N.J. -- Lester Robert Jacoby, of Englewood, died on Sunday, April 17. He was 79.

A U.S. Army veteran, Jacoby retired from Cohen Express Trucking as vice president. Prior to that, he was a police officer in Jersey City, a private investigator and a talent manager for many years. He was an active supporter of the Police Athletic League.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth (McMeekin) Jacoby; daughters Kathleen Christie and her husband Walter of Old Tappan, Diane Diaz and her husband Waldo of River Vale, and Lynne Moran of Englewood; grandchildren Lauren Christie, Kara Christie, Ryan Diaz and Kyle Diaz; and nephews Philip Mancuso and Robert McMeekin.

Jacoby was predeceased by his sister, Ruth Mancuso, and her husband Anthony.

Visiting hours will be from 5-8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20, at Pizzi Funeral Home, 120 Paris Ave., in Northvale. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home, with interment to follow at Rockland Cemetery, in Sparkill.
