Born May 13, 1925, Berra died Sept. 22, 2015, at the age of 90.

The former New York Yankee and Baseball Hall of Famer was born and raised in St. Louis, Mo., before becoming a longtime resident of Montclair in adulthood.

Known as one of the greatest catchers in baseball history, Berra — who also managed both the Yankees and the New York Mets — has his No. 8 retired by the Yankees.

Berra also is a member of the New Jersey Hall of Fame, has a plaque in Monument Park in Yankee Stadium and an honorary doctorate from Montclair State University, which also named its baseball stadium after him.

Berra also is well known for his sayings, referred to as Yogi-isms, including the infamous "It ain't over 'till it's over."

An 18-time All Star, 13-time World Series champion and three-time Most Valuable Player award winner, Berra finished with a career .285 batting average, 358 home runs and 1,430 RBI.

He posthumously was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom Nove. 24, 2015.
