Shields, an actress and model, was born May 31, 1965. She turns 52 on Wednesday.
She gained critical acclaim as a child star for her leading roles in the 1978 film "Pretty Baby" and later in 1980 "The Blue Lagoon" and 1981 "Endless Love."
Shields was 11 months old when she began her modeling career with Ivory soap.
She continued as a successful child model with model agent Eileen Ford, and at 14, was the youngest fashion model to appear on the cover of Vogue.
Later that same year, Shields appeared in controversial print and TV ads for Calvin Klein jeans.
She graduated from The Dwight-Englewood School in Englewood and earned a bachelor's degree in French literature from Princeton.
She has done numerous television and film work, including her own series.
Shields and her Husband Chris Hench have two children and live in Manhattan.
