Lopez's comedy spans standup, film and TV. He hosted TBS' "Lopez Tonight," a late-night talk show, for two years. This was after a TV hiatus, after six seasons of the sitcom "George Lopez," which he co-created and starred in. That show has retained popularity in syndication.
In 2006, Lopez received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Time magazine named him one of the 25 Most Influential Hispanics in America, and the Harris Poll named him one of the Top Ten Favorite Television Personalities.
